Waist Width
- Position: Narrowest point, usually between the 5th and 6th button (belly button height).
- Path: Horizontal measurement from the left to the right fabric edge.
For tapered cuts, the spot is recognizable by the side seam curving inwards. Measure here from fabric edge to fabric edge. The difference to the chest width (the "drop") determines how sporty the cut is. If buttons pull tight when sitting, add approx. 2 cm for a new shirt.
Important Note:
The following instructions are exclusively for measuring an existing shirt that fits you well (finished measurements). These values are not identical to your body measurements, as a shirt requires a comfort allowance.
Your Design Freedom:
When ordering a new shirt, you can modify the values. Do you want a tighter silhouette? Reduce the waist width by 1–2 cm. Do you need room for a wristwatch? Increase the corresponding cuff width (usually left).
