Hip Circumference
Hip circumference: Freedom of movement while sitting. A shirt must close perfectly even when sitting. The hip circumference ensures that the lower button placket is not under tension over the pelvis.
- Position: Measure at the widest part of your buttocks.
- Posture: Place feet close together.
- Important: Empty your pockets before measuring.
Stand upright with your heels touching. Guide the tape measure around the widest part of your hips or buttocks. The tape measure must run absolutely horizontally.
Important Note:
This guide is for determining your individual anatomical measurements (body measurements). These values are not identical to the measurements of a finished shirt, as a tailor adds a comfort allowance depending on the desired fit (e.g., Slim Fit or Comfort Fit).
Preparation:
Ideally, measure in light underwear or on bare skin. Stand relaxed and upright. A second person for support significantly increases accuracy.
